What is the true definition of the word tangible?

I always umed that "tangible" meant something physical that you can actually touch. My english teacher insists that it can also mean something that is not physical like an idea or emotion. "His love of her was tangible by the way he looked into her eyes" or "The good will in our clroom is tangible" Isn't she wrong??
