Can the Lakers sign Ron Artest?

I dunno who this rummor got started, asked a question a few days ago about the lakers not being major players in the free agency market. that they were going to look for a vet that would play mins off the bench and someone answered my question with ron arest. I'm really just hoping that the rummors started before that, if you really want to be sure just google it to confirm if the rummors are true.
