How can I obtain a lawyer for custody over my daughter when I can't afford one?

I am in the army and I'm stationed in Texas. I'm from Ohio and thats where my daughter is at. I would like to get some sort of custodial rights and a new visitation schedule in place. I know that I need a lawyer but they are really exspensive. I'm wondering is there some sort of program that I can go through that will help a father wanting to be with his child.
