How long do you have to live after being bit by a rattle snake?

My buddy and i are going camping for a weekend at some ranch property out in wagon mound new mexico. the property is rattle snake infested with western diamond backs. we are bringing a 22 hand gun to kill snakes if we see them. If we were to be bit we are an hour and 15 mins away from the nearest hospital. what should we do?
